Basic Concepts of Ayurveda:
Ayurveda’s most fundamental concepts include the five great elements or constituents, the three functional energies of the body, the three psychic energies and the seven structural components of the body. Diet has a vital role to play in sustained good health. We look at how diet influences health and how it can and should be adapted to individual constitution and season. We explain the factors affecting the different qualities of food, the various dietary rules and the how the digestive process works.

Ayurveda and the Mind:
The mind is inextricably linked with the body and plays a vital role in health and healing. We explain the mind/ body connection from the point of view of Ayurveda and Yoga philosophy, and how psychological balance can be achieved using a variety of techniques ranging from the physical to the more esoteric.

Ayurveda is an ancient science of medicine which defines health in terms of body, mind and spirit. Spiritual wellbeing and health are closely interconnected. We demonstrate how everyday, mundane activities may be turned into spiritual, health promoting experiences. We explore the benefits gained from developing spirituality and explain how health problems can be caused by a lack of spirituality in our lives.

Ayurveda and Yoga:
The knowledge of Yoga has spread throughout the world. Yoga and Ayurveda are inextricably linked. We examine the complementary relationship of these two great systems of knowledge which, when working together, can achieve optimum health.

Ayurveda and Reflexology:
Reflexology has it’s origins in Ayurveda, but has only relatively recently been discovered in the Western world. The theory of applying pressure to various parts of the body to achieve balance originates from the ancient marma (vital point) science. We explain how reflexology can be used to balance the doshas and how we can integrate reflexology with other Ayurveda therapies to achieve optimum health.

Ayurveda and Ageing:
Ayurveda describes the forces that govern the ageing process and aims to slow this process, enhance youthfulness and increase longevity. We present the basic principles and treatment approaches which may help to prevent premature ageing.

There are many everyday kitchen ingredients which can be used to make simple health and beauty preparations. We demonstrate how to make simple herbal preparations for colds, sore throats, stomach aches/upsets etc., as well as beauty preparations such as face creams, face packs, natural lipsticks, eyeliners etc.

How to practice self Abhyanga:
We introduce you to this wonderful Abhyanga (oil massage) practice, which can be practiced daily to greatly enhance your well being. We discuss the principles of Ayurveda, the scientific evidence of the effects of Abhyanga and the role of Abhyanga in promoting good health. We also demonstrate how to self administer Abyhanga for your daily life.

Ayurveda Head Massage:
Head massage plays an important role in Ayurveda massage, along with foot massage. It is stated in Ayurveda’s ancient texts that if the whole body cannot be massaged every day then at the very least the head, ears and feet should be massaged. This workshop shows you how to effectively massage your own head and how to administer head massage to others using appropriate oils and techniques.
